Lilvari’s Journal – Entry #8

Civility? Us? With a wizard? I loathe to admit that I could find a wizard to be …pleasant. He fed us and even presented us with useful information. Still, I was tempted to ask him to left his robe just to check out one little item of interest to further my studies on the subject of wizards and their members. . I found myself not wanting to insult and chose to not ask what was under the robe. That whole bird in the beard did kind of freak me out a bit.

Now the stain of what I instigated with the banshee was mostly undone. I knew what had become of Bowgentle’s spellbook, and now where Cragmaw castle was located. He also told us about creepy men in robes. They did not concern me, if they crossed our path they would die. The dragon however, was not an encounter we needed. I was curious about testing our mettle against such a powerful creature, but now was not the time. The wizard could be an ally in the future to tackle the dragon. It would have to be dealt with as it presented a threat to the surrounding region. We had a home here. It was a mess yes but the idea of a home, and the possibilities it presented actually brought a smile to my face. Green dragons were manipulators and would attempt to insinuate themselves any way they could into the regions they inhabited, yes he would have to die. It was just a matter of when.

We pressed on searching for the necklace. We were again swarmed by treefolk. Nuisance creatures numerous but easily dispatched. The giant spiders presented a challenge but they were crushed beneath my eldritch blasts and the giant Ajax. Every battle displayed some new powerful ability from my companions. He may not have mastered it yet, but he would. Kind of how Dare had not yet mastered his brain, there were signs he may yet, and then there were times (like that spear throw) when it seemed almost certain he would “Brain” himself. We needed to find that necklace and get the hell out of here. We knew what we came to find out, and the idea of a dragon and just the general atmosphere of thundertree was making me a little nervous, like walking over our own grave nervous….
