The unconscious fish monster was quickly tied up with the rope from its own harpoon before it could awaken. Lilvari slapped the monster until it came to. Immediately it snapped it’s maw and struggled against the restraints. Dare was able to subdue it by holding Talon to its throat.
Nazzeth used his telepathic abilities to interrogate the monster. Even under Nazzeth’s threat of a slow, painful death, it still didn’t offer much in the way of useful information. Not only did it seem to know it was going to die, it seemed to not care. Nazzeth heard it speak in his own mind. “I wish I was alive to see you all killed.”
With that, Dare slit it’s throat gill to gill. At about the same time, Nazzeth spotted a disturbance in the water. A harpoon sailed out of the water so quickly that no one else had time to react. Luckily it missed it’s target, Lilvari.
Four more creatures surfaced from the water and attacked from afar. Team Ramrod knew better than to follow them into the water so they held their ground on the shore. It proved a useful strategey. While the creatures landed occassional shots, they were unable, for the most part, to pull the adventurers into the deeper waters. The one exception to that was Dare. Dare was harpooned through the abdomen. Though he tried to resist, the creature managed to pull him in. It was able to take a massive bite out of Dare’s neck before Mercarri smashed its head in with Shit Hammer.
Out of the four creatures, three were killed. The fourth managed to escape, heading to deeper water towards the edge of the cavern wall. The adventurers used the time to rest and regroup. Dare searched the crates near the alcove, not finding much other than a moldy ream of paper, a dozen or so large glass empty bottles stoppered with corks and a crate filled with some unknown black goo. They also got a chance to ask the thief they rescued more questions. First and foremost, what he meant earlier when he said that he managed to hide the guild’s most priceless possession. He told them that it was a small box containing the ashes of their first leader, their founder, Hampton Tresendar.
Lilvari explained their reason for being here in the first place: Their search for information about Hampton Tresendar. She asked if they’d be able to claim the ashes and take them back to Tresendar Manor, his rightful home.
“It’s not my decision to make,” the thief responded. “It’s Tasha’s. Please, look for her. She may still be alive.”
Lilvari told him they would.
Ultorin kept watch as the others continued resting. Using his Eyes of the Eagle goggles, he was able to discern something of interest, something he pointed out to the rest of the party upon completion of their rest: a tunnel. The top of it was only barely visible when the water would fall slightly. As soon as it swelled up again, it was gone. The tunnel was in same direction that the creature headed towards before escaping. It’s also the same direction the thief pointed at when explaining where the creatures took Tasha and the rest of his fellow thieves.
