The party first questioned (tormented) Glass Staff. The terrified Glass Staff told them everything he knew — The Black Spider is a Drow (dark elf), that the Black Spider is actively searching Wave Echo Cave for The Forge of Spells and that The Black Spider entrusted him, Glass Staff, with leading the Red Brands to waylay anyone who may try to interfere. Glass Staff got a swift kick to the crotch by Lilvari for his trouble. Sildar called her back before more damage could be done. “He’ll be brought to trial for his crimes,” Sildar told them. On this Glass Staff didn’t agree. He promised them all that the Black Spider will get him out of his current predicament. If he will or not remains to be seen.
The adventurers decided to seek out Agatha the Banshee, who according to Sister Garaele, would be able to help The Harpers by answering a single question — “What happened to the spellbook owned by the wizard Bowgentle?” Borrowing horses from the Town Master, the adventurers set out for Agatha’s Lair. The trek along the TriBoar Trail, for the most part, was uneventful. It wasn’t until the second night did trouble stir. The adventurers were set upon by orcs demanding money. Of course the answer was no, and the orcs were quickly dispatched.
The next day, Dare, Mystic, Lilvari and Ajax reached the abandoned town of Conyberry. From there they made their way through Neverwinter Woods and found Agatha’s Lair. Lilvari offered Sister Garaele’s golden comb in order to entice Agatha to appear, which she did. All that had to be done was to ask a simple question. Instead, Lilvari showered her with crude comments. According to Lilvari, Agatha deserved it. After all, she called Lilvari a puppet on a string.
Agatha disappeared. That might have been their last interaction with the banshee had Lilvari not tried to steal Agatha’s crystal ball. The banshee appeared again, this time in a fit of rage. She attacked the party relentlessly. At one point her spectral form passed right through Dare’s body, leaving him chilled to the bone. Despite it all, she was no match for the adventurers. Lilvari landed the killing blow with Curse Bringer. A strange glow emanated from Lilvari’s weapon, almost seeming to pull Agatha’s form into it.
Sure, the adventurers never got a chance to ask Sister Garaele’s question, but did it really matter? They got a chance to inflict harm, to deal damage, to kill, to destroy. As far as they’re concerned, mission accomplished.
