The cave is overrun with not just goblins but wolves and a bugbear named Klarg. At times, it seems as if the adventurers will be overrun, but they mange to press on through massive floods and surprise attacks.The fighting becomes too fierce at one point, and Ajax gets taken down by a goblin. The adventurers push on, carrying the unconscious Ajax with them. 

They reach the southernmost tip of the cave which is filled with stolen supplies from countless raids. Among them are a number of crates and wares bearing an image of a blue lion — the symbol of The Lionshield Coster. Before the adventurers can get too good a look at what they’ve found, they are ambushed by Klarg, the leader of Cragmaw Cave.
